    ***** Lynsey and welcome.
What you say is true for all of us.  The good news is that there is a lot of help out there these days.  Here and other sites like this one, Gamblers Anonymous, other self help groups, counselling, residential treatment centres and more.
Keep posting.  If you tell us a little more about your situation you will get a lot for feedback and support from the other members here.  Let us know what help you are using and the positive steps you are taking to tackle this addiction.

Hi Wishbone, it sounds like you need to get some proper advice.  There are a lot of free agencies around these days, the one Nelly mentioned is only based in the UK though I think.  If you click on the resource link https://www.gamblingtherapy.org.uk/en-GB/listresources.aspx you will be able to see many links as to where you can get local advice.  Alternatively you can connect to the helpline here when it opens later today.
Whatever you do regarding the finances of course, the most important thing is that you address your gambling, otherwise of course any financial solution would only be short term.  Keep posting and let us know what positive steps you are taking to address your addiction.

Try and learn from whats happened Franco and see what you can do differently.  Where did you gamble? Go and get yourself banned.  How did you finance the gambling? what barriers might have stopped you?  Keep posting here, there are plenty of GA meetings in Scotland so maybe get to one of them as well – use BOTH and you can be stronger still.  Keep posting

Hi Vera, maybe one of those " things that you could do differently" would be to post your own thoughts and feelings on your own thread more often?

Hi Ammy, my own personal thoughts on any "no gambling resolution" would be to agree with you – don’t make it; it certainly never worked for me in the past either.
Better to make a positive resolution concerning what we are going to DO about our addiction.  Something like – this year I WILL get banned from that casino, I WILL go to GA meetings, I WILL post in the forum x number of ***** a week etc
    Happy New Year All 🙂

Hi Phillip, well done on your gamble free time.  How about GOING to that casino?  Go with no money in your pocket and ask them to ban you, take a passport photo with you and ask for a self exclusion form.   It’ll take a lot of pressure off Fridays, they can be just another day in recovery. 🙂
