Hi everyone, I am giorgio from Italy and I have a BIG problem. My story is quite the same as everyone here, I won big, then lost it all.
I had decided to block every single account a couple of weeks ago, and I actually did. every single account, except one. This site just doesn’t allow me to give up my account. I can ask to block it, but they don’t give any limits, I can just send a mail to ask the unblock and they do it with no problems. They also say I can’t delete my account or block it permanently, so everytime I block it, I end up geting it unlocked in a few hours.
I installed k9 on my pc but it doesn’t solve the problem, I still have a mobile and I can decide to unblock a site or unistall k9 from my pc when I want.
I don’t even enjoy gambling now, it’s like every time I do it I bet on the lowest-chance-of-winning game I see.
the days I used to bet 500€ on a single game are long gone, I don’t own that much. The only money I see now ar given to me by my parents, who don’t know about my demon.
I really need suggestions, I realy want it to stop -

Dear Giorgio,
I hear the pain in your post that this addiction causes. It is an addiction. And it feels like we cannot help ourselves. Sometimes we have to take drastic measures to stop this addiction. I gambled in many local venues. In my country you cannot ban from these places!! In the end I chose to tell my family of my problem so they could help me with my money. In the beginning I would provide receipts for any money that was given to me. I did that for a whole year! Over time I felt back to my normal self and was able to take care of my own money. I also went to gambler anonymous meetings for support. And seen a gambling addictions counsellor.
I know telling your parents is a scary thought. We feel shame at what we have done. Guilt for the money and opportunities we have wasted. But you can come back from this. Within a few weeks of not gambling your mind will start to clear. It started as fun but now it can be life theatening. If your parents though this might drive you to a dark place, they would tell you, let us know. They may be dissapointed and upset. But parents almost always just want whats best for their children.
Try the chat groups here or talk to the help line. I know they will have more advice for you as well. Take care, Laura

HI HMP,
I found k9 wasn’t helpful for exactly the reasons you describe .
I use a dedicated gambling blocker called Betfilter – I have it on my phone and my laptop.
It gives me freedom from the mindless gambling when I just start without thinking .
Think about buying a gambling blocker – I resiste s for years because I could not Afford to – now I know I can’t afford not to .
Hope this helps -
