I want to keep this short as my story is like everyone else. Now at mid 30s and I really need to stop gambling. Today is Day 3 of no gambling. I don’t have any money, therefore don’t feel the urge to go. I felt horrible in the weekend. I lost money that I need to pay my gf and parents for lending me money for my last mortgage payment. The weather this past weekend was beautiful and I just stayed home and watched tv and snuggled with my dog. Today I made some fund transfers as I have some bills to pay in the next few days. I also opened a joint account with my gf so she can monitor my accounts from now on. I think this could be a new beginning. Will keep updating this and see if I can go years without gambling.

      Day 3

Feeling better today. Found out that it takes 3 – 5 business days to sell my stocks and withdraw the funds from Questrade. So now just waiting for that money to come so I can pay my gf and parents back. Going to a vacation this coming weekend. Heading to Miami and doing a 4 night cruise with my gf. She would make sure I don’t step into the tables while I am at the cruise. Hope everyone is doing good. At work now. Yesterday I got very little work done. Today I need to be a lot more productive. Talk to you guys soon. Thanks for reading.

Time went by super fast. Just has a very good day at work. No money in my bank account and I am feeling great. Going home tonight and make a cream of mushroom pasta with ham ( that is all I have in my fridge) and watch a Netflix movie. Hope everyone have a good night. 🙂

Woke up today thinking maybe my fund would be in my account. But nothing got deposited.

My car has very little gas left and just didn’t want to take a risk today. The past two days I took the bus to work since I had some bus passes laying around the house. Pretty much used up all options, therefore, I biked to work today. (17 km one way). My luck still not good as mid way going downhill, I popped my rear tube. Glad I had a replacement tube handy and I always ride with all my gear so took me 20 mins and I replaced my tube and got to work. Now I am out of replacement tubes if I do pop my tire going back home I would be in trouble.

Also today I looked into my questrade account and the stock that I had invested for the past few months went up 15% today. I sold it two days ago to replace my gambling losses. Just piling on the bad luck.

Oh last night I did make pasta with cream of mushroom soup as sauce. It actually taste pretty good. I packed some for lunch today. Looking forward to having lunch lol. Sounds so silly. Anyways hope everyone is having a good day. On a side note, just want to say the past 5 days I didn’t spend a penny. I was able to be resourceful and find creative ways to get by.

I been there many times where I have been broke and pennyless. This is a good time to remind yourself how gambling takes away your time and money. You can survive. I remember when I was eating turkey dogs for 3 days straight. and it made me stronger. I don’t want to live like that again.

Thanks for the support. It is these hard times that help make me want to stay away from gambling.

I was thinking about how land casinos have grown in my area the past decade. There are 5 casinos I can get to within 40 mins from my house. All of them are now 24hrs and all of them can debit cash with no fees.

I might have to move to get away from all this “action”. Got to stay strong once I get some money in my account.

Biked to work again today. I hate biking in the rain but have no choice. Lucky for me this morning stayed dry but the clouds are telling me it would rain in the afternoon.

I have a meeting with the banks later today regarding my mortgage. I was hoping before to move to a bigger place as my salary has increased significantly the past 3 years. Don’t think this would happen when they see that I drained both my savings and chequings account in the last month.

Didn’t pack a lunch today for work but lucky for me my workplace have free fruits and snacks so just going to eat that for lunch today. Hope everyone is doing well. 2 more days and then vacation time for me.

This morning I woke up thinking about betting just $100 and trying to double up 5 times. If I lose the $100 bet I would leave. Lucky for me I check my bank account on my phone and the money still not there yet. So really can’t go. Life is so simple if you don’t have any money. Pretty much just go to work and go home.

Bank yesterday went well. Was surprised to find out that my credit is still good enough to pre qualify for a mortgage. Now its time to shop for a bigger place. Gambling did put me quite a bit behind all my brothers and friend in terms of financial freedom but I am recovering and the thought that I have to pay a bigger mortgage will hopefully keep me in check.

I cannot bet ever again. I know that and I just have to keep telling myself that every time I get thoughts of going.

Hope everyone is doing well. Keep strong don’t start again.

Just got back from a cruise vacation. Was tempted a few times at the ship’s casino to play a hand or two. My gf was even telling me to go and play while she kept watch. But I refused. I didn’t want to end up rock bottom again and I know that any bet could trigger it. I got really sick the past few days ever since I got back home. Hope I get better soon. Hope everyone is doing good.

Still feeling really good. Been seeing some of my friend’s facebook post on their poker hands or just photos of them playing poker. Would be lying if I say it doesn’t make me want to go, but I was able to think about other things and just kept myself busy on other task (cleaning the house, walking the dog, grocery shopping).

Hope you’re feeling better Spidy ( Friend of mine ended up in hospital last week after a cruise!)
Ask your GF to join the F and F Forum on this site . She would know then, not to encourage or invite you to gamble. Maybe she was just testing you? Not a good idea!!

I think she was just testing me. I am feeling better. Cruise is a very easy way to get sick. Just a lot of people in a small space and we all share food and drinks.

      Hope your friend feel better.

Been good this past month. Just paying back my girlfriend for the vacation I took. Work is slow but I am using my extra time going to the gym or playing computer games. Hoping to start putting more money into my savings and retirement plans.
