For those of you in the UK – a new scheme called GAMSTOP is coming which is aimed to be implemented by the end of 2017. GAMSTOP is basically a single place where you can self-exclude from all online gambling.
I’m sure many of you know that the main issue with self exclusion is that there’s an unlimited supply of online casinos which you can continue to sign up and use, hopefully many of you (like myself) will see this as a very powerful tool which we can sign up to – and forget safe in the knowledge that attempting to gamble online is now impossible.
I’ve been gamble free for several weeks now and life is very slowly starting to get back on track. For those of you trying to get clean, you can expect to keep thinking (and especially dreaming) about gambling for a few weeks after you stop. I also noticed that life seemed to be going past in slow motion and that I needed to be constantly busy to avoid feeling bored and depressed.
These feelings have just started to subside as the weeks pass – some things I found really helped me were to just focus on appreciating what I have.. Everything (especially when it comes to wealth and money) is relative. Many of us can be depressed because we compare our finances with somebody elses or where we think they should be.
I find a much healthier view is to be glad I live in the modern first world and appreciate the simple things like the people who love me, reading, cheap hobbies and so on. Reading about history and affairs elsewhere in the world quickly makes you appreciate simply having a roof over your head and the CHANCE to go to work and earn money for the things you want in life.
Another helpful process I’ve found is to identify thought patterns which lead to gambling.. For me, one of them is that “I will stay clean but I’d like one more win to kick start, or that I can accelerate paying down my debts with one win and then I’ll stop.” The truth as we all know, is that you’ll either lose – or you’ll win and it won’t be enough so you’ll keep going until you do lose. Even if you kept winning, it would never be enough – so repeat. It’s a hard thing to do but it helps to see winning as losing, winning means more gambling – we all know that. If only we had all lost every single time we gambled, we would have all stopped much sooner!

Well its about time!!!!!
If only all countries do this.
I’m one of the lucky ones, I’m excluded from over 100 venues all within a 2.5 hr drive. I was able to do this in 15 minutes.
Every bit helps!

I wish this would have been put in place a lot sooner, it would have certainly helped a lot of people including me in a massive way.

Omg if this is true my life would become so perfect !
Will this cover all those sites from other countries too- the problem I have with betfilter is that it only blocks one device although it has been brilliant having it in my phone .
Thank you for letting us know about Gamstop -

If you are based in the UK – it will exclude you from every site which is licensed in the UK.. in theory, it’s not possible to gamble on websites from inside the UK which don’t have a license here.
I think just knowing that means you will self exclude safe in the knowledge that you can’t gamble online anymore – period
