I’m Andy, for too long I’ve been betting on football, using up virtually all of my pay check and running up small debts in the process. I bet again yesterday. This time however, instead of feeling anger if utter dispair I was relieved in a very strange way. Relieved because it was over, and this would the last bet I was place ever again.
After that loss, I quickly googled various combinations and that led me to here – if which I am thankful. After reading the forum posts I decided it would be good to start my own journal and update it regularly, and read the forum everyday.
I have been writing mini stories for a while, most of which unfinished I hasten to add. The plan I have is to step up the time I’m writing and by giving myself incredibly ambitious deadlines for first drafts, coupled with my normal 9-5 job, I won’t have anytime for betting. I have a new story I’m working on split into episodes.
Furthermore, I read it takes just 2 weeks of constant activity for it to become a habit, so continuing down this route will hopefully lead me a good placein my life.
I’ve never told anyone this before, but this problem and strain at work recently has lead me to become really depressed recently, even considering the notion of suicide. Even though that notion has now passed, I do feel everything is constantly heavy in my shoulders sometimes. I’ve never seeked help for this before, so by working everyday on beating my habit I really hope to get to a beautiful place.
A beautiful place indeed.
My first target it to finish the first episode by end of play next Sunday and make it 7 continuous day betting-free- so I will update then and with hard work, I’m determined to make it an update with good news all round.
Over and out

Hi Andy and welcome. I hope you are finding it useful to read some of the other stories here. You can see you aren’t alone and also see the sort of thing that has helped others. You can then apply those things to your own situation.
I hope you can post about your success when you come here on Sunday, my own advice though would be to try and use support through the week – that makes that success more likely.
Keep posting and let us know how you are getting on and the positive steps you are taking.
