hi, I am using this as way of trying to express my feelings a long the way of the long process of stopping gambling. It is a long and tough process but it’s something I am desperate to crack once and for all, I have been four weeks now without a bet which is a great start and that’s all it is, I know it’s going to be tough but I am talking to a professional who is a great help and seeking every bit of advice possibl. When I was worst was when you feel like you have had a bad day and I turned to it and it made you feel worse which is a vicious cycle, I could spend hundreds in a session and then chase the next day and so on, It is not a life you should want or have and anytime but especially with a young family. am determined and will beat it one way or anothe so anyone has any advice or would like to share points then by all means reply if not I hope we all get to the stage we want as it must be a better life without gambling!

Great you’re here. Great place to interact and share.
I still get itches and cravings — it’s like a chiseling force that wants to hack and pierce its way back in to a recovering life. We have to be thorough with digging deep and writing about what we’re experiencing.
I’ve experienced some today even — Different emotions of fear euphoria desire etc. all become ways and justifications to feed the gambling beast. Writing is a way to straighten and perceive a little more clearly our range of emotions that gambling is always trying to sink its fangs into and distort.
Much love and support — make today gamble free! <3

That’s great that you have gone 4 weeks and great that you are getting some professional help.
I am guessing that you have had a look around the site and know what practical steps you should take – i.e – banning yourself from places where you gamble, not keeping your own finances as far as possible and trying to pick up non-gambling activities to keep you busy.
Other than that – lots of support, both from friends and family, professionals (which you are doing) and support groups such as GA and … well here on the forums – and groups to where you can ”talk” in real time. It would be good to see you there!

Do you need to do anything? You chose to be a good friend and to be there for him – isn’t that reward enough? What did you want / expect in return? Sometimes people need support and are not always able / willing to give it back. Sometimes people can be supportive and are happy to just be there for someone else.
I guess you are feeling in need of support for what you are going through at the moment – and you will get that from being on here and from going to self-help groups or sites on-line. Don’t give up on being supportive though – it can be rewarding in unexpected ways!
