So it’s New Years day. I have been gamble free today NOT because ‘I’m turning over a new leaf’ or ‘Its a New Years Resolution’. Its just that I dont have any money. That’s the point. I’ve hit rock bottom now. But I’m going to take it one day at a time. Tomorrow is another day. I will be 2 days gamble free by the end of tomorrow.

I just cant get past day 1. I feel like a complete failure. Gambling demon is winning and I’m losing. Its nuts. Feel like its a war that I can never win. Very depressed 🙁

I am so sorry that you are having a hard time getting pass one day.
Hang in there, and dont stop trying. Everytime you fall, get back up and try again. Prayerfully, one day when you get up, you will stay up (gamble free).
I know first hand how hard it is, because you know the damage you continue to do, the debit you continue to build, and pain that you cause love ones, but you just can’t stop.

Sorry to hear you are having difficulty getting past Day 1. From reading other posts here, and my own experience, putting barriers in place to make it more difficult to gamble can be a great starting point.
Have you put any barriers in place to try and help be gamble-free? Related to this, if you haven’t done so yet, there are new members meetings on Mondays and Thursday which can be very helpful, there Charles can give you advice and suggest next steps including barrier options.

Hi Sjc1. It’s my first gamble free day as well. It’s not because i don’t have any money today, even though I was gambling yesterday and lost almost all my salary. But as a many times before i decided not to gamble anymore from now on.
I have never been part of some support groups and forums before and i hope this will be useful and hope for a better start this time.

If you scroll to the bottom of the My Journal Forum page just start your own thread, you will get a lot of feedback and support. You can also connect to the Live Support helpline or groups. As you say – you have decided to stop gambling many times, by using support you can be stronger still. Keep using support.

OK, so you can’t gamble because you have no money. Great – now how can you use that? What barriers can you put in place before next pay day? Exclude from where you gamble? Accountability and limiting your instant, easy access to funds with which to gamble?

Words, promises and even intentions rarely stop someone from gambling. It is actions that count. If you take those actions now while you can’t gamble then you will be less likely/able to when you do have money.

Using support is also important – here you have the forums, groups and helpline here. Lots of other support around these days as well. Keep posting, let us know the positive actions you are taking.

I saw you post on someone elses thread but I can’t really give you advice there.

You CAN stop gambling. Put the barriers in place, connect to support – here, GA meetigns, whereever. Lots of options around these days. First thing is get those barriers in place. Remember, actions not words.
