… This time is different …

… Hi my name is Darcy and i am a compulsive gambler…
Good evening Darcy,
You first introduced yourself as being a compulsive person and used that as an excuse for compulsive gambling. Last time you showed a desire to stop because things were different; things may have been different then but you stayed the same, and only delayed your gambling activities a few weeks. Now you are back and you begin with "i am a compulsive gambler"; this is showing some change in you, this is showing that you can change and things can be different, including yourself.
However, your being different and things being different does not make recovery any easier, just more possible. To make recovery work there are more differences that need to take place; as Colin asked earlier, "What are you going to DO differently? Make yourself accountable for your finances? Get to GA meetings?". Making these type changes will allow you to accumulate more time being gambling free, will help you to get to 30 days and beyond; allow you to reach a point where complacency can develop into a concern and not just an excuse to return to gambling after a week or two of being away.
Keep coming back to this site, keep posting, and look for ways to help, look for barriers that you can put in place and ways to restrict access to funds. This too will add differences to the way you go about your recovery; taking actions and making changes in your life will make a real difference in the way things will be.
And, speaking of differences, congratulations of being a new father, on the birth of your new child.
God’s speed. Stay strong. Make changes, make things different. Larry"Day Two Is Another Day Behind" – With the help of a Higher Power, My 3G’s – God, GA, and GT, I will continue to be gambling free.
