Hi Everyone
I would really appreciate some feedback
I have been playing poker for approximately 10 years, I play at the top level, live and online, and it has become a second income for me.
I am reluctant to give up poker because I make a good income from it (genuinely) – I also have complete control when playing poker and do not take unneccesary risks – thus I see it more as a “job” than anything else and if Im 100% honest, I don’t particularly enjoy it, nor do I get any kind of buzz out of it, it is simply aboutthe money, and I am a profit player, no argument.
The problem is that though I resisted the temptation for many years, I now find myself addicted to online casinos and all other forms of gambling. I have blocked all casino sites and self excluded myself – but I dont feel as though I have peace of mind for some reason
I would truely value any input – Im really not sure what to do at this point…..
Many Thanks!

Hi Mark and welcome to the forum.
I think you might at some stage have to make a decision. This is a gambling addiction, even if you are a good poker player but it is course still gambling.
I can see two problems for you. Firstly, now that you have blocked other forms of gambling the addiction will have only the one way to get it’s buzz and fix. As a result you are more likely to have less control with your poker, more likely to chase etc as your addiction switches it’s outlet.
Secondly, when you play poker, either online or in “real life”, you are going to find yourself in very close vicinity to other forms of gambling. You will do so at a time when you have access to your gambling funds. Again this is going to make it very difficult for you.
There were forms of gamblign that I was pretty good at, elements about gambling that I truly loved to do, there came a time though that I had to make a choice. Were the things that I loved about gamblign worth the ***t that followed? Unfortunately as an addict I couldn’t have one without the other. It may be that, either now or later when in deeper trouble, you may have to make the same choice.
Keep posting and maybe I will meet you in one of the groups here as well.

I never thought that it can be possible to have poker as your job…

The other thing of couse Brandon is that IF someone was able to be a preofessional poker player, or indeed just a social one, then they wouldn’t have the need to even look at a site like this one. they wouldnt answer a single yes on the GA 20 questions. I hope you start your own thread in the My Journal Forum, tell us a little about what brought you here.
