      Hi
I am new here and don’t know where to go.
I started this gambling addiction 2 yrs back and have lost 50k GBP by now
Because of gambling it seems everything is falling apart
I have a family and decent job and still can’t understand how I got hooked into it
I have started taking payday loans to play and chase my loss.
I always play live roulette and thought have cracked the winning code .But I keep on loosing eventually.
I won 5k 3 days back and thought that’s it I am going to payback my loans and stop forveer. But last night only I lost all my winnings taking me back to square one.
I don’t know by ow to stop .Feel like suicide can be solution to take this out of my mind

How many times I walked out of the casino saying to myself this is it and this is the last time. Only to go back again and again. How many times we all felt like suicide is that solution. Of course it is not. We all hate ourselves for the thousands upon thousands we have lost. However, somehow we have to be strong, and we will come out of this. Payday loans are about the worst thing you can do. Its highway robbery the interest they charge people. I will pray for you and myself that we can both stop this insanity. You are not alone.

      Hi Monka ,
Well done on recognising you have a problem and seeking help.
      Do you play online .
If so can I suggest you buy and gambling blocker for all you internet devices – this will give you a bit of freedom – when the urges come you won’t be able to act on them. I have betfilter on my phone and I no longer have an iPad or laptop. It has meant that even during those crazy times when I spent hours trying to bypass my blocker- I couldn’t gamble.
It becomes easier with time – especially when you see the gamble free days and weeks building up.

If you gamble in a casino, you can get self banned – this is harder to do as you have to go and visit the casino but worth it if t takes away the pain.
I too used to have suicidal thoughts after gambling.
      It is horrible .

Can I also advise that you get some help with the debts – I was where you are and have brought down my debts considerably.
Stepchange is a good place to start – you can do an online assessment .
Hope this helps Monka- you can stop you know and have a great worry free life .

Hi Monka, Banning, blocking, asking someone else to help with your money and hold your bank cards it will help deter you. It’s good that you are here on GT. You will have support and we all know where you are coming from. There are companies who will consolidate your payday loans and reduce the interest and making the payments more doable Been there, done that. You can consolidate other debts into one monthly payment. I’ve felt suicidal at times, usually after a gambling binge. But in reality, I just want to be free of the gambling and live in peace. Keep posting! Stay strong.

      Hi Monka ,

What I did is I rang all the companies I owed money to.
I told them what I could afford to pay and they accepted .
Sometimes it takes a few calls.
You then pay off slowly with repayments you can afford .
They will usually freeze the interest while you pay .
You could go to citizens advice and they will do this for you .
