Where to start.
I’m currently in university, decided to pass my driving last year and buy my self a car on finance.
I failed a year so decided to resist the exam I failed and will be returning back to university in September this year.February 2015- I was selected to go on a game show and won 17k was over the moon. Paid off my car finance leaving me with 11k remaing.
Unfortunately I discovered online gambling and lost 11k from May 2015 to now, lost it all on slot machines! I feel sick depressed and don’t know what to do.
I had to sell my car as my liecnce was revoked and been ordered to resist my test. Sold the car for 4k that went all in to gambling again! When I swore to myself I wouldn’t gamble.
Last week borrowed 2k of my credit card boom lost it all.In total I basically lost what I won 17k. Lost my car my licence and now only 2months remaing till I go back to university.
I’m 20 and feel so depressed that I feel like jumping of a cliff.
I haven’t told anyone my parents think that the 11k is in saving.
I just imagine what I could of done with the money. -

HI,
you have made a great start by posting. I also gambled on the online slots and they have taken every cent and more from me. Debt, yep, that is a big thing, but your life is so much more than that. You will never get the money back, not through gambling. One of the best pieces of advice I have received here is to get a gambling site blocker on your computer, i use K9, but there are many others. You will need a password. I didn’t have anyone to set this up for me, so I cut letters from a paper, wrote them down in a jumbled order and used that. I then tore it up. It has saved me from gambling many a time. -

Hello AK and welcome.
I hope you have been reading the other stories here; you will have sen a lot of stories similar to your own. You will also have seen the success stories – what are they doing that you can apply to your own situation?
There is a lot of support available to you both here and elsewhere. Talk to Student Services at your University, they are bound to have a pastoral care support team and could help with counselling/mentoring.
Talk to someone, get barriers in place so you can’t gamble online/access funds to gamble.
The money is gone, you can’t win it back. What you can do is make sure you don’t lose any more and dig the hole deeper.
Keep posting and let us know what positive steps you are taking.
