Hello I’m Tom 25 years old and I am a gambling addict. I started off when I was around 17 and got in to poker had a few good wins as you do to get hooked. but things got worse and worse, ive lost well over £100000 gambling every weekend I spend all my wages in which I don’t have control of as my mum has my bank cards, back in 2014 I stole £70000 of my dad in which we don’t speak and lost it all on gambling, also around a few months ago I went in to my mum and dads house and stole around £9000 off them. ive sold drugs in order to feed my addition I really need help ive attended GA sessions previously and used to write on gamcare website. I really want to go to rehab I applied at the start of the year to go to gordan moodys in Birmingham I had the letter sent out to me but I didn’t reply as I was scared but this time I really want to go. Has anyone had any experience with them? I’m so desperate to go there. please feel free to comment I would be very grateful and ask any questions you may have for me. Thanks Tom

I’m so glad you have taken this great first step of writing here. You also applied for the rehab – another positive step, showing that you are beginning to seriously want to turn your life around. So I would say, please do not be afraid. It is quite normal to feel afraid of such a big, new step in your life, but you will find you are welcomed and supported all the way. Your fears will be understood, but you will also find encouragement.
So do get in touch with the rehab again and set things in motion. But also, I hope you will explore this website and use all its resources to help you make a new start, while you wait for news about rehab.
It may not be easy, but it will be worth the effort. You have youth on your side still and you can gradually find a way of life that will give you some peace and contentment.Best wishes,
Monique
