      Hello all.
Basic introduction: i’m a 31 year old male from the united kingdom with a on/off love/hate relationship with both money and gambling, deep down i’d say that has existed for probably since i was very young and growing up poor.
Now, i did not do much gambling when i was younger except occasional use in arcades but i have had issues with money in the past due to spending, over-spending.
That was fairly easy to control, i woke up one day and said "i’m not buying "rubbish" i do not need anymore"
However about 4 years ago i started gambling online and sometimes in bookies (fobt) and arcades and this resulted in binge gambling with disposable income and on severe occasions money i actually needed.
Blowouts often occured monthly but it was often the case that as soon as i lost a weeks wages i’d ban myself from the casino and on occasion cut my ATM card up.
I do not have any debt, i have on occasion racked up a debt and then paid it off, usually the equilivant of a few months wages.
So i have concluded that i am not a ludomaniac or compulsive gambler, but i do have a gambling problem, in fact its quiet bad when you know you have an issue and despite putting blocks in place still continue to do it, very counterintuitive.
That said just the other day i put a few blocks in place:
1.Betfilter, very good product does not interfere with computer stability and i have noticed competitor products often block gambling help sites.
2.No credit card accounts, all closed.
3.cut up debit card, i use what is known as cash cards which cannot be overdrawn and you have to transfer money on to them but they operate like credit and debit cards.
I’d also note that it is only the "fast-action, instant result" type gambling i have ever had a problem with, i’ve not had issues with say a lottery or horse racing or things where the result is an hour or more."What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."-Ralph Waldo Emerson
