Where do I begin, I turn 21 in one month and am a junior in college. My problems started during my freshmen year when i went to the casino for the first time. the joy i felt when i one had me hooked for life. Ive had great wins, and terrible losses. Last year at this time was when i realized it was really a problem. I was gambling away everytihng i had, borrowing from people to gamble more, and became unable to pay my bills. Starting in November of 2016 I hit a hot streak. I won 400, then 500, then 1000 in the course of about 2 weeks. I left my school to go home for thanks giving break and one another 100 or so. The very first night back at school after break I went with a friend and lost 200 of my own and borrowed 500 from him. I lost it all. In a fit of rage I knocked down a chair of a table in the resturant section and was told to never return. This was great as it started to help me overcome my addiction. Fast foward to the end of march and I was finally allowed back in. After winning 100 one day, i decided to go back the next day (April 13th 2017) in which I lost in total over 600. I wanted to kill myself. This was the third straight year I blew my tax refund at the casino. This came at a time where i was getting my life on track, paying off debts, and having enough money to live comfortably for the time being. Now Im stressed again. I have emailed the manager of the casino asking that he reinstate my ban so I can never come back. This is the first step, but it still does not get rid of that urge to go back and try and win my money back. I need help. Luckily I have a very supportive girlfriend, but i fear this addiction will be what eventually causes her to leave me. If anyone has any wise words for me or helpeful measures to take to overcome this problem once and for all it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi NeedtoStop, well done on looking for help.

Take a look at the My Journal Froum. You will see a lot of stories similar to your own. You will also see the success stories – what are they doing that you can apply to your own situation?

The most important piece of advice i can ever give anyone is to USE the support that is available, if we could do it on our own then none of us would be here. Keep posting, check out your local Gamblers Anonymous meetigns.

Well done on reinstating that ban.

It sounds like your girlfriend already knows about your gamblign problem. Show her by your actions how determined you are to address the problem.

Keep posting but I would recommend posting in the My Journal Forum. It is a busier forum and you will get more feedback and support there.
