I am a problem gambler for about 12 years now, it involves me playing online poker and anytime I have money I just have that urge to keep playing until it is all gone. Winning or losing I seem to enjoy it, once I get paid I pay all my bills but what money I have left I will gamble and lose in a few days and then have no money for the whole month, but im fed up of it and feeling depressed until payday again and my gamble fix comes, I recently took a loan out and lost all the money and im max out on a few credit cards, luckily I can just about afford it all every month but im fed up of paying all this debt each month, I have decided now is the time to give up before it gets more out of control, my journey to being gamble free has begun and I believe with excluding my self from online sites and registering here today I can do it but I will need all the support I can get.

Hello and thanks for starting a thread in the Gambling Therapy forums

Here at Gambling Therapy we pride ourselves on being a caring and diverse online community who can help and support you with the difficulties you’re currently facing. We understand that this might be a tough time for you, particularly if you’re new to recovery, so come here as often as you need to and participate in the forums, access online groups and connect to the live advice helpline if you need one to one support. We’re in this together!

Here on the forum you can share your experiences in a safe, supportive and accepting environment. The beauty of writing it all down is that you can take your time and you will be creating a record of your progress that you can look back on if it ever feels like you’re not moving forward. So, share as much or as little as you like but do try to stick to keeping just one thread in this forum so people know where to find you if they want to be updated on your progress or share something with you.

As well as the forums New Members are invited to join Charles in the New Members Practical Advice Group On Mondays at 21:00 (UK) and Thursday at 19:00(UK)

      And on that note….

I’m going to hand you over to our community because I’m sure they will have some words of wisdom for you 🙂

      Take care

      The Gambling Therapy Team

Hi Jaylee, well done on looking for help.

Read the other threads here. You will see a lot of stories simialr to your own. You will also see the success stories – what are they doing that you can apply to your own situation?

Well done on excluding yourself from those sites. You can also get a blocker for your PC.

You have found what most of us find – when we lose our money we can’t gamble! Now you can use that knowledge, who could look after it for you so that you can’t access it easily to gamble with? Accountability is a good barrier.

      Keep posting.
