Hello all. Today (11/18/2010), I have decided to stop gambling completely/permanently. My goal is to lead a better life for myself and my family.
I’m 41 years old, living in fabulous Las Vegas (Sin City) and married with 3 wonderful kids (18, 13, and 11). I have been gambling for over 15 years now (I lost count after 10).  I started with sports betting but eventually moved on to tables and poker machines. Lately, I spend most of my time on the poker machines, where I am alone and nobody around to bother me. I used to go with the wife occassionally, but that time has long gone. I now like to go on my own secretly. For instance, I sometimes leave work early just to gamble.
I hate the feeling of losing, like everyone else whose an addicted gambler. Despite that feeling, I still find myself going back to the casinos. It’s almost as if I’m entranced! My car seems to veer that way too like a magnet.
My goal starting today is to just STOP! I know I’m going to need help and support, but I have to stop this madness cold turkey. My plan is to do this one day at a time. If you have similar situations, please feel free to post and share your experience. Who knows, we may just learn from each other. Thank you for taking the time and wish me luck as I go on this tough journey ahead.
