Ok.  Those I speak to in the groups will know I always talk about actions, about commitment.

Well here is a commitment, I figure the more people i tell the more likely I will be to DO it!!

Someone inspired me recently, an old friiend.

While I don’t think the few people I have told believe me, I am making a commitment to run a marathon next year, probably the Manchester one on 10th April – apparently it’s the flattest in the country lol

I did start training a coupel of weeks ago but did my leg in , wont stop me though, I will be back training and will walk round if I have to.

I’m working on the basis that the more people i tell the more lilkely I will be to follow through!

I know people who that has also worked for in recovery, they have more people to help keep them safe.

‘Hope you take it easy with the training Charles
      One day at a time!
      Wish I could run!
If you don’t run it, you can walk it.
Be careful not to “spend” the sponsorship money
      LOL
Just sayin’ cos that’s what you’d say to me!
      Ha!

Thanks for your encouragement. My leg is getting better, pulled a calf muscle, nothing serious just a not so gentle reminder that I should do warm ups/stretches before setting off running lol Maybe my impatience trait in action!

I do have a couple of charities in mind to raise money for, one will be a dementia research charity, the otehr a breast cancer research charity. Though of course if anyone wants to make a donation to this site they can go to the “About Us” link then click on “Support Us”

Thanks Vera, I do of course already have plan in place that will keep me accountable for any charty money I do collect.

I will update here intermittently as my training progresses and of course nearer the time.

Going well thanks Vera. I had to take it easy for a few weeks after my “sports injury”! Ran a mile and a half a week ago and leg still hurt.

This weekend I walked the dog for 3 miles twice and in between I ran 3.6 miles.

Slowly does it, this time in 2 weeks I’m planning to have run 5 miles at least twice. No point peaking too early lol

      Hi, thanks for the support.

Yes training is going fine thanks. Just over 4 weeks to go now and I’m pretty much on schedule distance wise.

I actually think the marathon, with the atmosphere and crowd to give me encouragement, is going to be easier than the fairly long solo runs I have to do in the next couple of weeks to up my stamina.

Hi Charles, just wanted to wish you well, thanks for all you do and your ongoing support, I would agree to run the marathon with you but after resolving an issue when someone got a little to close to my wife I ended up with a damaged cruciate ligament……I have never liked odds of 6/1.

Take care Charles and as always I wish you all the very best in life, look after yourself and don’t over do it, what ever happens you know deep down you have done all you can.

      Take care my friend.

      Maverick
