Today is Day 50 and the first day that I have found this site. I am sitting here reading all these posts and for the first time in my life feel that there are people who actually understand what I am going through. I just got out of a Rehab Facility that I checked myself into for help. Everybody in there was there for other addictions and as much as they were able to get me “clean” , I still felt misunderstood. Everybody there could relate to their own addictions, but nobody could put themselves in the shoes of the “gambler”. Here I sit in tears amongst a group of peers, finally able to feel like there is hope for me. THANK YOU.

Hi Elise, I am glad that you found this site. Many people don’t recognize compulsive gambling as a disease. Compulsive Gambling ruins lifes. It affects us both mentally and physically. I’m sorry that you felt misunderstood at rehab. You are understood here. We all have our stories. We all battle our gambling addiction. Please keep posting and reading other’s threads. You are not alone. I would recommend GA meetings and putting up barriers such as limiting cash excess, banning from casinos and using this site! Stay strong. Take care.

Welcome, you certainly have found the right place, this is a wonderful little community of compulsive gamblers from all across the globe.. we are all united in our want to better our lives and leave compulsive gambling in our past.
Well done on going to rehab. Its ok people dont get gambling as an addiction sometimes, its not as obvious as when people are high or drunk.. if they see our bank account really is the only way of knowing at times.. its easier to hide.
You know you have an addiction, we do, its what you do about it now thats the main thing, stick with other recovering compulsive gamblers they are the ones who get it. Gamblers anonymous is perfect for support, as is here, counselling, there are one on one meetings here online, there is the helpline, theres a family and friends section for your family or friends who want to know more about it or have support. Use every resource availabe to you, throw all you can at this addiction.. welcome here and hope to maybe see you in a chat room here to talk sometime.
You are understood here i promise.P

hi lizabeth and thank you…my computer was down for a week and i’m just back up and running. I truly appreciate your supportive post. It’s these small things that are keeping me out of the casinos. I am definitely following your advice and will definitely keep coming back here to read the post and seek out more support so thank you again. 🙂
