I’d be really interested to hear your views on a new research project that Gambling Therapy is running in conjunction with Bournemouth University.

The idea is to run a peer support topic group – where group members discuss a particular aspect of problem gambling and recovery each week. With the permission of the group attendees, the transcript of the group is then anonymised by a member of the GT team – removing names and any identifying details – and the resulting text is passed to the Bournemouth University research team for analysis as part of a study into the use of online support groups. The aim of the project is to better understand how we use and interact using online support groups – particularly how we can better use them to support ourselves with online addictions and compulsions.

As the group is part of a study it is not visible to the casual browser of the site – it requires users to first contact us in order that the closed group can be made visible to them.

I’d very much welcome your feedback on this project… and obviously we’d really love to hear from you if you think you might have the time/inclination to take part. The group will be held at 6pm on a Tuesday… full information at http://www.gamblingtherapy.org/research-project
