I apologise again for maybe not posting this in the right place…
I have 17 years old and I started gambling about a year ago. I manage somehow to quit, but the crave is overwhelming when I drink too much. I am a smoker aswell and I would say smoking is just a bad habbit and it doesn’t concern anyone from my family by now… I am wasting all my money or my economies on gambling… Sometimes I don’t even buy cigarettes because after I buy 5-6 drinks I go and gamble all my left money! I know I should stop drinking in the first place but the thing is, I don’t really know if I fully can…
I don’t know. I just want to quit gambling and I wanna know if someone has this kind of problems when they drink.
Thank you! -

Hi Asus, I am a CG! You are very young and it is good that you came here for help with your gambling. If you think that you have a drinking problem maybe you should address that also. You have your whole life ahead of you. I think that it shows a sign of maturity that you came here for help. There are support groups here and posting and reading others threads help a lot. I don’t drink but I used to smoke. I quit 5 years ago. I would smoke until my lungs hurt while in the casino. I think a lot of things go hand in hand. Drinking, smoking, overeating, gambling! Just my thoughts. Keep posting. Take care.

Hi Asus and welcome to the forum. Well done on looking for help.
I see you say that previously you “managed to quit somehow”? That seems to suggest that gambling was also a problem in the past, even without the alcohol?
I see from your profile that you live near a casino. How about getting self excluded from that casino?
Alcohol is always likely to weaken our defences. When you go out just take enough money wiht you to cover the cost of your drinks, then you can’t get tempted afterwards. As Lizbeth says though, if alcohol is possibly becoming a problem as well then you can also get support to help you stop drinking.
When it comes to gambling there is a lot of help around when we make the decision to stop. Here and other sites, places like Gamblers Anonymous, counselling and more.
Keep posting and let us know what positive steps that you are taking.
