It was easy to remember why you want to stop gambling and alcohol: when you step into your home, you can see the terror, horror and hatred in the eyes of your victims. Instead of receiving love and protection from you, they are hurt and harm by your behaviors due to gambling and alcohol.

When you are pressured, harassed, threatened and chased for overdue payments for loans and debts almost every day. You are living in constant fear, anxiety, worry, stress, frustration, helplessness, hopelessness, powerlessness, unmanageability and depression.

When you are heartbroken and heartaches over losing all the people you love due to gambling and alcohol.

When you lose your family, house, career, health, life-saving and friends.

But…

One day after staying gamble free for a period of time, after the relationship with the family was repaired and restored, all the bank loan and debt was fully repaid, new flat and renovation was fully paid, have access to excess cash in emergency again etc.

Many people will start to ask themselves why do they still want to stop their gambling and alcohol?

They have forgotten why they want to stop their gambling and alcohol in the first place?

When things get difficult, hard and painful, you start to lose your focus and commitment on stopping gambling and alcohol. You wish to numb and forget everything with gambling and alcohol. You have forgotten about all your hard-fought fights to refuse destroying yourself for a temporary escape in your recovery journey.

Today I remind myself to:

Stop my self-sabotaging
Trust God’s plan is better than my plan
Trust God will provide
Trust God will make my path straight
Trust God’s way, not my way
Trust God, don’t give up hope!

Remembering

1 Corinthians 10:13
God is faithful and will provide a way for you to endure it

Matthew 16:25
For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever lose their life for me will find it.

You can find strength and a way-out temptation through faith.
