The truth
My name is not Ruth (definitely not, Ruths are full of kindness I have met a few)
I look in the mirror
And what do I see
This face staring back at me,
My face is not really me.
What’s behind those eyes of steel
Memories? Of a far distant past
Wanting to forget, yet remembering still.
The water continues to flow,
never-ending cycles of life
people live, people die
I am in this cycle, I can’t escape
but the water lives, will never die.
When all the while
My thirst cannot be quenched.
Flow river flow.
