Finally took the first step and decided to quit gambling.
I lost half my months welfare this month already, but this time i was wise and stopped it before it went any further, so i don’t need to only eat porridge for the rest of the month like i usually do.
I went ahead and downloaded Betblocker on both my PC and Phone, and i still need to contact my landbased casino and block my card from Supermarket slots (Yes, we actually have machines in SUPERMARKETS.. Absurd.)
The urge usually went hand in hand with my alcoholic, depressive lifestyle. Think about drinking, go buy a 24-pack, load up some slots and trash the whole balance in a whim while hammered, cry myself to sleep, and be miserable for the rest of the month.
I guess i was mostly just looking for some thrills in my life. I don’t have a job, and have a hard time keeping up with one. I still have loved ones in my life, but it is REALLY hard to open up about my issues. My parents are aware about my alcoholism, and i’m working on that,
but nobody knows about my gambling issues, since i usually just shoved it into the side. My gambling problem was also the reason why my earlier girlfriend broke up with me, since i was always broke and she had to provide for me. And she never knew, because i was too afraid
to open up, and admit what i had become. She just thought i was paying debts, but the reality is that everything i owed went into collections, and since i didn’t have a job, they are still hanging in the background, but that doesn’t stress me much. I’ll pay them once i sort out my other issues.
So i guess this is a first step into the right direction. I thought that since i like opening up anonymously, it’d be great to write a bit about myself on here, so i’ll remember to keep it up, and to remember how miserable i am when i don’t have any money.

Good to hear that you have made the decision to stop gambling and have taken some steps – like admitting you have a problem both to us and to yourself – and that you have blocked yourself from some sites. It will not be an easy journey as many on here will tell you. It would be well to block yourself from the other outlets as soon as you can whilst your willpower is still strong.
Can you get good support for yourself in these early days? You can contact one-to-one here -or there may be professional or self-help groups locally. Do you get support for you alcohol problem? Maybe the same people can advise on gambling …
Other things to do are to keep yourself as busy as possible with non-gambling activities and minimise any money you have access to. No time and no money means no bets!
I hope to see you post again soon. Go well.

So, share as much or as little as you like but do try to stick to keeping just one thread in this forum so people know where to find you if they want to be updated on your progress or share something with you.
As well as the forums New Members are invited to join Charles in the New Members Practical Advice Group On Mondays at 21:00 (UK) and Thursday at 19:00(UK)
And on that note….
I’m going to hand you over to our community because I’m sure they will have some words of wisdom for you 🙂
Take care

Alcohol is my trigger too, i never gamble without some booze in my stomach, it really goes hand in hand and then we make really stupid decision when were intoxicated, The only thing we cand do is stop drinking and take it one day at a time
