Everything around me was new

It was scary what could I do?

 

Move forward, slowly and sure

Coz I couldn’t return to what was before

 

All the pain that I’d left behind

All that money and hurt it did to my mind

 

Change was scary, that’s for sure but

The alternative was to just stay in that rut

 

Even a positive change can be daunting

“Don’t do it!” My addiction was taunting

 

But I knew I had to move forward

And if you do then you can have my word

 

That if we follow advice to the letter

Then things are really sure to get better

 

Now my new is no longer new

It’s my recovery, it’s just what I do
